Your files never leave your device — 100% local processing

Sign a PDF

Put a signature on a contract or consent form and save it. Your file is never sent to a server.

This places a signature image onto your document

It draws your handwritten signature onto the page — the everyday way contracts, consent forms and applications get signed.

It is not a certificate-based electronic signature. It does not verify who signed, and it does not prove that the document was left unchanged afterwards. Where a certified electronic signature is required, use the method that organization specifies.

0 B uploaded — this page has not sent your files anywhere?

Private by design — this tool never uploads your files anywhere. Everything runs inside your browser, and the finished file is saved straight to your device.

Other conversion sites upload your file to a server, process it there, and say they delete it after a while. Until that happens, your file sits on someone else’s server. Here there is no upload step at all. The more sensitive the file — contracts, ID scans, medical records — the more that difference matters. See how to verify it →

Sign a contract on screen instead of printing, signing and scanning

The print-sign-scan loop for a contract that arrived by email can be finished on screen. Draw a signature, upload a photo of one written on paper, or type your name, drag it onto the preview and save; the signed PDF downloads immediately. Opening and saving both happen in your browser, and there is no upload step at all.

A closer look

There are three ways to make a signature. On the Draw tab you sign with a mouse or finger, choose black or blue and a thickness, and use Undo or Clear to try again. The Upload image tab takes a photo of a signature written on paper and removes the white paper automatically, leaving only the ink; if the photo is dark or the paper looks yellowish, adjust Sensitivity, and switch on Original color to keep the ink colour rather than black. The Type tab renders your name in handwriting-style fonts that are already installed on your device, so the exact look can vary from one computer to another.

Besides the signature you can add short text such as a job title, today’s date, a check mark and initials the same way, which covers what contracts usually ask for. Anything placed can be dragged, resized from a corner, nudged with the arrow keys and removed with Delete. Bear in mind that this tool places a signature image onto the page; it is not a certificate-based electronic signature. It does not verify who signed and does not prove that the document was left unchanged afterwards, so where a certified e-signature is required, use the method that organization specifies.

How to use it

When it helps

Return a freelance contractPlace your signature and today’s date on the last page’s signature line and reply to the email with the file.
Initial every pagePlace initials once and use “Put on every page” to copy them to the same spot throughout a multi-page agreement.
Consent and application formsAdd check marks and your name to fill in a bank, school or government form on screen.
Reuse a paper signaturePhotograph a signature once, let the background be removed, and use the same image on document after document.

Common snags

My photographed signature shows up as a white box.The background removal did not match the photo’s brightness. Raise Sensitivity so a wider range of light pixels is cleared, and check in the preview that no document text is hidden. A photo taken flat in good light removes far more cleanly than a shadowed one.
A password-protected PDF will not open. You will see “Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened here”. Follow the link to Unlock PDF, remove the password, then open the file again.
Will the signature land correctly on a landscape page?Yes. Pages carrying 90°, 180° or 270° rotation are handled, and the signature lands exactly where you see it. The preview position is the saved position.
How do I stop the other party editing the signed file?A signature image does not lock a document. You can add a password to the saved file with Protect PDF to restrict opening, but even that does not mathematically prove the file was never altered.

Tip A typed signature depends on the fonts of the device you are on. If you need it to look identical every time, draw it once, save, and reuse a cropped image of that signature through Upload image.

FAQ

How do I use it?

1) Choose a PDF. 2) Make a signature — draw it with a mouse or finger, upload a photo of one written on paper, or type your name in a handwriting style. 3) Press "Place on document", then drag it on the preview to set position and size. 4) Press "Save signed PDF" and the finished file downloads straight away.

Is this signature legally valid?

This tool places a handwritten signature onto the document. That is the everyday way contracts, consent forms and applications get signed. It is not a certificate-based electronic signature. It does not verify who signed, and it does not prove that the document was left unchanged afterwards. Check what the receiving party requires; where a certified electronic signature is needed, use the method that organization specifies.

Is my contract uploaded to a server?

No. Opening the file, adding the signature and saving all happen inside your browser. There is no upload step at all — you can disconnect from the internet and it still works, which is an easy way to check for yourself.

Can I photograph a signature written on paper?

Yes, and that is the most common way to use it. Choose the photo under "Upload image" and the white paper background is taken out, leaving just the ink. If the photo is dark or the paper looks yellowish, adjust "Sensitivity". If the background is not removed, a white box will cover part of the document, so check the preview.

I need to sign several pages.

Move between pages and place one on each, or place one and press "Put on every page" to copy it to the same spot throughout. Handy for initialling every page of a contract.

How do I stop someone editing the signed PDF?

No placed signature image — from this tool or any other — locks a document by itself. After saving you can add a password with Protect PDF to restrict opening and editing. Even then, that does not mathematically prove the file was never altered.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

Password-protected files will not open. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, then sign.

What about landscape or rotated pages?

They work. Pages carrying 90°, 180° or 270° rotation are handled, and the signature lands exactly where you see it. What the preview shows is what the saved file contains.
