Base64 Encode · Decode
Convert text to Base64 and back again. Full UTF-8 support, and nothing you type is ever sent to a server.
0 B uploaded — this page has not sent your files anywhere?
Other conversion sites upload your file to a server, process it there, and say they delete it after a while. Until that happens, your file sits on someone else’s server. Here there is no upload step at all. The more sensitive the file — contracts, ID scans, medical records — the more that difference matters. See how to verify it →
Base64 FAQ
Does it handle emoji and non-Latin characters?
Yes. This converter works on UTF-8 bytes, so emoji, accents, Korean, Japanese, Cyrillic and any other characters encode and decode correctly. (JavaScript's built-in btoa throws an error on those — this tool handles it for you.)
What is Base64?
It is a way of representing binary data using only letters, digits and a few symbols (+, / and =). You will find it in email attachments, JWT tokens, data URIs and API authorization headers. It is an encoding, not encryption — anyone can decode it.
Decoding gives me an error. Why?
Either the input is not valid Base64 (stray spaces or line breaks, or missing characters), or the original data was binary rather than text — an image, for instance. Trim the whitespace at both ends and try again.
Is it safe to paste a secret token here?
Yes. The page makes no network requests while converting — you can open your browser's network tab, or go offline entirely, and it still works.
