Unlock PDF (Remove Password)
Enter the password once and save a copy that opens without it. No quality or text loss.
0 B uploaded — this page has not sent your files anywhere?
Other conversion sites upload your file to a server, process it there, and say they delete it after a while. Until that happens, your file sits on someone else’s server. Here there is no upload step at all. The more sensitive the file — contracts, ID scans, medical records — the more that difference matters. See how to verify it →
Remove a password you already know so the file just opens
Bank statements, payslips and certificates often arrive with a password such as a date of birth that you have to type every time. Enter that password once here and the tool saves a copy with the encryption stripped off, so the file opens straight away and can be attached wherever you need it. The work happens in your browser and the file is never uploaded.
A closer look
To be clear: this tool does not find passwords you do not know. It opens the document legitimately with the password you type and removes the encryption; a wrong password simply produces an error, and no guessing or cracking is attempted. If you have forgotten the password, the only route is to ask whoever issued the document for a new copy. Look at the issuing email or page for the rule they used, such as a six-digit date of birth or the last four digits of a card.
The processing is done by qpdf compiled to WebAssembly. The first run takes a few seconds to load the module; after that it is immediate. Entering the open password also lifts owner restrictions such as print or copy locks, and because the content is not touched, text selection, search and image quality stay exactly as they were. If a file opens without asking for a password but refuses to print, running the tool with the password field empty will often clear that restriction. The result is saved as a separate file ending in “_unlocked.pdf” and the original is left as it was.
How to use it
- Open the password-protected PDF.
- Type the password you normally use to open it into PDF password. Use this only on documents you own or are authorized to unlock.
- Press Remove Password. On a first run you will see “Removing password… (the first run takes a few seconds to load the module)”.
- After “Done! Saved a copy with the password removed”, open the downloaded “_unlocked.pdf” to confirm it opens without a prompt.

Common snags
Tip If a portal wants several certificates as one file, unlock each of them first, join them in order with Merge PDF and, if there is a size limit, run the result through Compress PDF.
FAQ
Can it unlock a PDF whose password I don't know?
No. This tool saves you from typing a password you already know every time you open the file. It does not crack or guess passwords.
Does it hurt the quality or the text?
No. Only the encryption is removed — the content stays exactly as it was, and text selection and search keep working.
Does it remove owner restrictions (printing, copying)?
Yes. Entering the open password also lifts owner restrictions such as print or copy locks.
Is it safe to do this with a bank statement or a payslip?
The file is not uploaded, so it is not processed on anyone else's machine. You do not have to take that on trust: open DevTools with F12, clear the Network tab and run the tool — no request the size of your file appears. How the processing works and how to verify it →
Converter sites are blocked on my office network
That block usually exists to stop internal documents leaving the network, which a tool that uploads nothing does not do — but the block is applied by domain and may cover this site too. What to show your IT team →
